Anyone have experience with fiberglassing shell rot? I got 2 boxies from a rescue that had shell rot and were patched prior to me getting them. I was told to remove the patches mid-July. So, this morning I thought let me give it a try. Yuck!!!! The wound is not healed and looked like pink mush. I have a call into the vet, but was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this? I had not completely removed the patch so I put it back down and used black rubber tape to resecure it to make sure no insects, water, etc. got into the wound.

No I haven't Dee, but should be like any infection. Also this is the reason that everyone is getting away from fiberglassing a turtles shell as all it does is trap in infections and makes it impossible to tell if you have an infection.
I would take it off completely Dee and wash it off with diluted provodine iodine. I wouldn't cover, but would make sure they were in something that the flies couldn't get to them. Also no substrate, except newspapper.
