Does anyone know any facts or tips that are useful to keeping tortoises? I am 13 and it would be helpful to know how to keep my toby and lydia perfect and live as long as possible. Before i was born, lydia layed eggs but my parents gave them to a zoo. Every year she has eggs and searches for where to dig, usually too late and she drops the eggs. They arent usually fertile but i would give anything for them to hatch, my parents said i can have the babies if i find out a way please help!:)

Oh please? :(

Please!? :(

what kind of tortoises do you have?
that would help us a lot in answering your questions and giving tips.
If she is dropping the eggs, then she doesnt have a good place to dig a lay... you need to provide that.
Do you have a pair? male and female? Maybe the male pesters her too much and she cant find a quiet place to lay...

Male hermanns can be more than a little bit of a pest. It is probably best to fence of a bit of the garden where Lydia can lay in peace after your male has had his wicked way with her.

I'm not an expert on eggs, but other will advise on how to prepare somewhere where she will feel safe to lay.
