Face/cheek Scale seems to be coming off??

Hello!

Can someone help me identify what this is? Is this a scale falling off his face? Or is this a vet emergency issue? Eating and drinking good! Just looks like a scale that’s coming off his face but I’m not too sure if this is normal for the cheek area? Thanks!

His beak is splitting because it is overgrown and needs to be trimmed.

And how do I fix this issue? Trim it with a file?

If you've never trimmed a beak before it probably would be better to have a professional do it the first time. I use a Dremmel or a nail clipper
