Soaking up the small area of sun that was creeping over the edge of his enclosure early this morning. Amazing how they seek it out during sun rise.

Yes...this is how you often find a "lost" tortoise...just look in early a.m. where the sun first hits.

 * They are masters at thermal regulation!

For sure. Mine loves to sit right at the shade line between full sun and full shade with his body even between both areas. He'll disappear for 10 minutes into the shade then re-appear back again right at the 50 yard line. Full sun and very dark skin must get hot fast!

* Ours do the exact same behavior!

Enoch weighed 10.35 ounces when he arrived. I weighed him tonight, he weights 9.15 ounces. He eats grass all day long, gets a soak both in the am and pm. He spends days outside from 7am until 8-830pm. Am I doing something wrong? Should I offer something else other then grass and weeds?

Wait a couple of weeks and then weigh again. Any time you change your torts surroundings most need several days or longer to adjust.

Be patient, my aldabra also needs some adjustment before he really settles before and doesn't really grow much. Now that he adapts to his new enclosure, his growth starts naturally..
