In the bottom of the picture, the light fixture closest to the camera...that compact fluorescent bulb should be mounted horizontal (like in an aquarium hood) instead of pointing down. Those compact bulbs concentrate the UV rays out the end of the bulb and quite often cause discomfort and even snow-blindness in tortoises.
O.K. I got the lighting problem solved. Thanks again.Utah Lynn said:emysemys said:That's nice Lynn. I do see one thing that is a cause for concern, though. That's how I read it; so, I mounted my lights in an aquarium hood that I had on hand.TortBrain said:emysemys said:That's nice Lynn. I do see one thing that is a cause for concern, though. As in pointing side way instead of pointing down towards the tortoise?
Thanks!

The attached pictures are the Lighting before and the lighting after a suggestion from Yvonne.Utah Lynn said:It took me about 3 days, from start to move-in. Most of that time was waiting for the silicone to cure. I'm still tweaking things to my RTs' demands.Turtle Guru said:Sorry for reporting but how long did it take you to build it
I'm sorry I'm so late to reply, but Thank You.lynnedit said:Wow, that is a big improvement, looks really nice.
Hi Dolan. Did you go back in the thread to see the picture? It measures 2'X6' for 2 RT's. I partitioned it to keep them separated, as they don't get along. As far as being too small? I assume that it is o.k., as I haven't seen any posts that say it's not.DolanKoops said:Is that not to small for them I ain't saying it is I'm just asking because I dont know ..?
