Your dog and tortoise are very pretty. Please NEVER trust your dog alone with your tortoise. Dogs see a tortoise as a moving chew toy. Many tortoises have been killed and/or hurt badly by dogs who the owners thought would never bother their tortoise.

Your picture is very cute Sandra, but we've all seen so many tragic stories of tortoises mauled by good natured, friendly dogs. Forgive our trepidation. We say what we say because we don't want anyone to have to learn not to trust a dog with a tortoise the hard way. We have nothing but the best of intentions. Domestic dogs are probably the single greatest threat to our tortoises and we just want to make sure everyone reading realizes it.
