Hi everyone! I was noticing recently that Pickle has an indent at the top of one of his back scutes, it’s always been there but looks more pronounced to me. He is housed/fed/cared for according to Tom’s care sheet. I know they have a sloped back when they are older but if it looks like something might be wrong I want to catch it quickly. He was 39g a little under 4 months ago and now is 185g. Thanks for your input!

What a cute little tortoise! You see that sloping over the hips a lot on captive sulcatas. I haven't paid attention to the posts explaining it, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Wit a bit for someone else to come on and explain it.

Looks totally normal to me... I mean the slope part you are asking about looks normal.

The rest of the carapace does not look "normal". It looks FANTASTIC!!!

It was a few years ago that people had no idea what a smooth sulcata even looked like. People didn't even know they weren't supposed to be pyramided. Little tortoise ornaments were made with pyramids.

You've done a great job Sanderson.

My girl has the same thing going on. It’s normal for her.
