I am so bummed. I found my big male Eastern boxie, dead, under a plant in his enclosure yesterday after work. All 4 legs and head out flat.

I haven't seen any signs of problems, no predators, other than a stray cat once in a while, but it doesn't look like he was injured like that anyway.

I didn't have him very long, just a few months. Was pretty active, even mated during the time I had him.

Don't see many like him around.

I guess I will have to hope he left me a son of his (yet to hatch).

sorry to hear, but if you got him as an adult who knows how old he was?

Hmmm... sorry to hear he is late. Boxies are sweeties ~ If he had to go, I'm glad he was out in the garden in his "stomping grounds".

It's tricky raising box turtles for anyone anywhere let alone for us here in AZ, that's why I switched over to tortoises. It's likely he became overheated...but who know's for sure. Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for the loss of your beautiful boxie. Hopefully he will have left you with a little offspring, just as beautiful as he was. The heat here has been terrible, and some of my boxies have stayed buried in their cave for most of the day.

That's real hard to hear. I'm so sorry. My first impression, since you didn't have him very long, was that he might have been hiding an illness. He was a beauty!
