No. The two require totally different habitats. The Russian tortoise comes from a very dry and forbidding area and a redfoot tortoise requires a moister more tropical habitat.

+1 Yvonne. Russian and "Cherryhead" (a type of Redfoot) tortoises should not be housed together. Aside from the possibilities of one harboring illnesses/pathogens the other can't survive against (especially since most Russians these days are wild caught), their habitat requirements are just too different.

On that note... I've never heard of a "Red" Russian tortoise...

Someone should tell petsmart that. When I bought my first redfoot, it was in a aquarium along with a Russian. Totally ridiculous.

While I may not like or agreed with them doing it, I can understand why they do it. What I can never understand is when a zoo does it. :rolleyes:
