Ceramic heating lamp/ or basking light?

Which is better for my tort? I'm seeing both... I have the proper UV bulb, I'm just wondering what is the best rout for keeping my baby leopard tort happy. Any suggestions?

I use a CHE to keep the heat where i need it and then provide a basking lamp during the day for some UV exposure.

You will usually have to use both. Check out Toms threads on raising a smooth healthy leopard if you haven't read them yet. They are below in my post. The sulcata threads apply to leopards too.

I use both. They serve different purposes.

The basking bulb is on a timer for on/off 12hr cycles.

The CHE is on a thermostatset set to 82F to maintain the ambient temp and night heat. Because it's on the thermostat it only goes on if temps drop below 80 and then shuts off when the temp is in the low 80s.
