Here is Asha .... We have decided to try and offer a different way of doing things with MBD and Carapacial Collapse. In NO WAY are we advocating for a 'No Vet' mentality but we do want to show how easy it is to help these torts suffering this fate that will kill them without intervention.
She is so precious to us and we are willing to do whatever we have to do to save her life.
We are making a video series of the process and our thoughts along the way. This is just an introductory post to get everyone up to speed about what it is we are doing.
Her shell is so soft that when she breath's you can see the whole shell move, including the bottom. This is a clear case of "...If we don't do something she's going to die."
We are very curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this, and yes we know we're not vets. But you wouldn't have your vet build your shed ... would you? We do not agree with the way it is being done by vets who are not necessarily savvy in building techniques or the forces involved with any building project. She will also need some serious physical therapy for the way her legs have been put in an unusual awkward position ... walking on her shins. It reminds me of @wellington telling us about using Hydrotherapy for our Mater (Sulcata with leg issues). She is not out of the woods by any means but at least this is a start to a happy life free from pain ... Hopefully.
Please share your thoughts and as I edit the videos I will post them here for all to dissect. There needs to be a change and this may just be a start to that.
