I planted it in Pio's outside enclosure when he was a baby. He ate it all summer.

Thaks Katie. That's a Christmas Tree storage bin, that I use for the smaller guys. I have a few. They are the best. He never really ate too much of the butter lettuce, but he ate every one of the pansies. He still loves them the best. He also munched on the little Spring mix sprouts.
Hey...tortguy...you should try planting some Spring Mix seeds. They grow fast and the torts love the little sprouts.

Nutritionally, Butter (or Bibb, Boston) Lettuce is better than Iceberg, but not by tons. I'd give it 3.5-4 out of 5 stars, and Iceberg 2.5-3.

100 grams of Butter Lettuce (http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2474/2) offers 13 calories, 0g of fat, 1g fiber, 1g protein, 3312iu vitamin A, 0.2mg vitamin E, 35mg calcium, 33mg phosphorous (Ca: P of 1.06:1)

Just for comparison, 100gr of Iceberg Lettuce (http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2476/2) is 14 calories, 0gr fat, 1gr fiber, 1gr protein, 502iu vitamin A, 0.2mg vitamin E, 18 mg calcium, 20mg phosphorous (Ca: P of 0.9:1)

I just avoid lettuce all together myself, and I feed mine grape leaves and dandelions.

There was a 43% chance you were going to say that :)

Thanks, but I just like research and data- so much better to work with than 'well, someone said...' kinds of comments.
