Bushes for hides

I am wanting to plant some bushes that my torts may or may not eat but would use for hides mainly. But I want them safe for them to be around. Any suggestions?

Rose of Sharon is a good choice. Roses and other bramble type bushes (like raspberries) are also good. I see you have bonsai so a mulberry would be excellant with training (pruning) to keep it size.
