Budget upgrade, and what a difference! [Lots of pictures]

Here's what it looked like before:

He never really hid in the log, so I gave it to the vet. I had gotten it for free anyway and he keeps lots of baby torts so figure he'll get more use out of it.

Now, with fake plants that were 50% off at Hobby Lobby this week ( ) plus a bit of timothy hay and a $1 bag of rocks from Dollar General:

Now he's got fun places to hide!

He stomped around the whole enclosure for about 20 minutes. I've never seen him so active and so curious. Now he's found a new favorite spot:

Which he promptly began to dig up!

But of course, he wouldn't be a Russian if he didn't try to escape at least once a day:

What a nice improvement! That's the way to do it; watch what your tort does (and doesn't do) and adjust things to accommodate that.
