Hi All,
I have asked Yvonne about this but thought I would get
some-more
in put? I want to ad something to Sunnys top layer of bedding? I am
now using Repti Bark, sphagnum moss mix. With co co fiber on the
very bottom? Which I cook I in the micro wave? I am so scared
of bugs/mites I know I know some are good but... I dont like them just
them same? Anyways which of these 2 are best to ad into the mix?
Small co co chips or orchard bark? Which one will hold moisture best
and not get mold easy? Thanks

Well, you will eventually have bugs of some type..so you will want to remember you have a creature IN YOUR HOME that lives in and on the dirt with all types of bugs...in my opinion peat moss is the best..

I like coco coir the best. It holds humdiity the best, does not mold and won't cause impaction. I tried some of the mosses when my first was a hatchling. The strings of the moss would get caught between his legs and shell, and couple times he had it hanging out his mouth. I stopped using it then and only used the coir. Oh, I also used chips before once, don't remember which kind. I didn't like the sharpness of some of it and it would kinda stab him, so stopped that too.

I use orchid bark under potting soil and compost.
....Since you asked. This works for me. I also ad some Timothy hay to my night quarters. It's not needed, but it's what I do.
