hi, I have a Russian tortoise, and posted a pic of him on a Russian tortoise Facebook page. I thought it was a cute photo, but I got some criticism from people who said I needed to trim his beak. I’ve had him for 21 years, And did not know it was something I needed to do.

Do I bring him to a vet for this? Advice? I live in SF Bay Area

Thanks,
Laura

I’m not sure about the beak, I think it is a quite overgrown. What is that little lizard behind your tortoise?

I seen that too! Yes, that beak needs trimming. It will have to be done in several settings as it is very long. Yes a vet can do it but you could also learn too. But I would take him to a exotic vet that deals with tortoises if you are not comfortable doing it.
