Beach Sand

I was thinking of using beach sand instead of play sand for a 60/40 mix, so beach sand/eco earth for my radiated tortoises.

I personally do not like use of sand of any kind in an enclosure.....freaks me out

Although others do and I am sure that they will post their opinion to your question...

I prefer not to use sand as well. I typically use plain organic humus from Home Depot. I used the sand in the past, and ended up hating it with a passion.

Now, is this sand that you are going to collect yourself from a beach? If so, I would say no. To much risk of it being contaminated with E. Coli, pesticides, fertilizers, fuels, fungus, other bacterias, etc.
