some crappy college I bet. :p You know how colleges prefer to go by just their initials? This one no doubt is just know as the University of BM:rolleyes: I can tell Carl learned alot there, so it wasn't a complete waste.

Hey! Those are my initials, ha, (real name Brian Matthew Morris, but go by Matt). I've been plagued by that my whole life, Ha! I love the cherryheads. I've got a normal female that is close to that same size, the carapace of yours and mine are almost identical.

Carl are the females usually bigger then the males? How big do males usually get when they are full grown? How much will your female weight when she's full grown and also the males when they're full grown.

A BS degree at BM? That sounds impressive! BTW-The BS degree isn't much of a surprise since you're trying to tell people that Cherryheads bask in the sun  You MUST have some mango hiding there somewhere to get them into the sun, you sir are a master BSer! :p

My two big females constantly bask when the sun peeks through. My smaller ones don't come out much.

Hard question to answer. With this type of redfoot there seems to be a great deal of variation. For example, none of the males I have had in recent years was over 10 inches while many of the females I've kept were. But then again I had a male cherryhead back in the 80s that was just under 14 inches and I have seen many that were 12 inches.
Females can also vary greatly in overall size. Some seem to top out at only 9 inches (or even less) while others grow to about 12 or more inches. So I can't really say exactly how large males and female of this race get.

I also have never had a problem with possums, though I have shot more than a few. I have heard of them scavenging and eating tortoise eggs, but never had the problem. My Blue Tick Coon Hound will kill or tree anything that she does not catch. At that point I have to go shoot it out of the Mango or Avocado that it is in as she will not shut up! This always happens at night by the way. No one will sleep for blocks! Usually a raccoon and I am happy to have them gone, I know that they were here first and so on. Until you have seen what raccoons do to tortoises and and their nests, you just can't appreciate it. Truly scary. If I can relocate a possum I am always more than happy to do so. Strangely enough they will bare teeth and make all kinds of moves on you but you really can just grab them by the tail real quick and drop them into a box to relocate without being bitten. I have done this over 20 times without ever incident. Kids do not try this at home! LOL

Opossums are really migratory, however, they do choose to stay in one place for quite a while. For about three months I was cleaning opossum poop out of my tortoise waters (about 15 of them). I figured it MUST've been more than one animal because there really was a poop in each water. Then one day I saw a dead opossum on the street in front of my house. No more poop after that. He really must have been eating well to go that many times in one night.

I hate to catch them in the hav-a-heart trap because when you let them go, they cling to the wire of the trap and you have to shake them to get them out.

Basking Cherry Heads, you say???

Sorry for the OT discourse.

So would you say that lighting in indoor enclosures may not be ideal for smaller torts, but could possibly benefit larger ones? Although, when larger, I plan on keeping mine outside unles the weather doesn't permit.
