basic help please....

Hello everyone..... I am a new star tortoise owner. I really dont know how to actually create an environment for him but i let him (male, i think) roam around my room all the time. i occasionally let him out in the sun. He sleeps most of the time which is good for me.
All i need is what can i do to make him more comfortable, a new environment, n the food he needs to eat. All the time he eats cucumber, green peas and hibiscus. I dont know his age but he is around 4 inches long (hope tat helps to find the age).
Please help me cause i want him to be happy in my company.
PS. He does take food from my hand

Hello and Welcome. He needs a proper cage, UVB lighting, heat, water dish food tile, substrate, and less time in your room but more time outside .

i do really hav doubts.... in indian markets the veggies availble r .... potatoes tomatoes lady's finger beetroot, radish r the most basic ones we get..... so wat specifically shuld i feed him?

Yup agree,he needs to be on the sun at least few days a week for a few hours.
Also u need to build an enclosure,with the the right light,water dish,hiding spots,and right substrate....

well in indian market we find some common veggies only.... so i really dont know what i can feed him.... right now i have put him in a tub of water for him to soak.

There are a few Indian Star keepers here on the forum. Go to the Indian Star tortoise section and read through some of the threads and posts. Then send a PM to the ones that seem most knowledgable to you and ask them for specific help.

Hello, regarding the enclosure..... first we need to know how big is your star?? and he/she does need sunlight for 2-3 hours minimum everyday.... and water dish ....... and you should also soak him/her in lukewarm water for 20-25 min.. everyday... and we can further help you with the enclosure when you specify how big is your star and if possible please post pics of your tortoise and the space which you can provide so we can better assess and help you.....
