Hey all, pretty new to this, im babysitting a 6 year old horsefield tortoise for a night very suddenly. All i have for him is a container. Im experienced with handling them for educational events and feeding however Id like to ask what might be best for temporary bedding. I dont have access to substrate or coco fibres, im wondering if newspaper, paper towels or card might be okay for tonight as i dont want him to feel uncomfy on the plastic. Its after 7pm here so no open pet stores unfortunately. Its only for one night, ive a water dish and food but i just want him to be comfy cozy

I would not use paper towel because tortoises will often eat it.

Regular cotton towels work well for this purpose. Just be sure there are no holes or stringy bits hanging off for them to swallow or get tangled in.
