So my Arcadia mvb should be here tomorrow so I decided to move my baby sulcata to a 40 gallon breeder. To try to control the humidity I have a humidifier inside the enclosure. It sits ona couple of bricks which raises it off the ground. I put moss underneath and I figured this would serve as a humid hide. I have a sheet of plexiglass covering 2/3 of the tank and the mvb will go over the uncovered 1/3. I planted grass seeds all throughout and have some more plants and decor to add. I also planned to cover the bottom couple inches with construction paper so he can't see through the glass. What do you guys think? image.jpg image.jpg

Looks good to me, it should be a great baby enclosure but just remember that he or she may grow out of it pretty soon! Post some updated pictures when you add everything!

My opinion:
1. Its too small.
2. I don't like to use humidifiers. Use a closed chamber and humidity is easy to maintain.
3. I've never had favorable results trying to close the top of an open topped enclosure with the lights on the outside.
4. No need to cover the bottom of your tank. In three decades of using glass tanks, I've never needed to do this.

Here is how I think it ought to be done:

I did not think this would be too small for a baby sulcata. I know he will outgrow it quickly but I had an empty one and figured it would suffice as he is only about two inches long. This is about as closed as I could generate at the time. The lights are not on the outside as one third of the enclosure is open and the MVB will hang there. Im glad to hear I do not have to put something along the bottom. Makes my job a little easier
