I’ve got this nine months old RT and recently got a decent sized enclosure. I noticed that s/he starts to nimble/chew on the floating rock which is a big piece of plastic that’s under the basking light. You can see the white bite marks.

I am obviously very concerned about it. Wonder what you think. Should I take it out and replace with real rock? I do notice that s/he also chew on the food container which is made of some type of rock.

thanks

I guess if s/he's not swallowing down what came off the rock it is probably OK. But no one can guarantee that so I am thinking throwing out the plastic rock.

Use a piece of slate. For water/food bowls use the terra cotta plant saucers. safe and they can use them to wear down their beaks.

Cuttlebone in the enclosure will help with the urge to nibble.
