Most tortoises aren't active at night, but there might be a night or 2 where one moves around a bit.

It really depends upon the species. Most tortoises don't leave their hiding spot at night, but my Manouria tortoises almost always do. Especially if its raining.

My tortoise is more active late afternoon, she usually sleep at night until lunch time...If I don't wake her up for breakfast she sleeps until 2pm where she's very active until 5:30 and she goes to sleep again.

My torts sleep like a log in one spot throughout the whole night. Guess they must be really comfortable.
