Gorgeous guy, look at that awesomley flat shell..

How big is your other one?

Is the size difference safe for the smaller one? I recently got a 100+ male, and I decided to keep him seperate from my others, he is like this guy, twice their size at least.

he gave him a hello shove but we will kep an eye on em. Brutus is 45 pounds and about 18 inches long. Caesar is right at 100 (hard to see the scale while holding a large tort) and about 26 inches.

Very cool! What a huge old dude.

Being wild caught, it is impossible to gauge the age on him, but he is probably quite a bit older than a similar sized tortoise of the same size. Wild tortoises grow at a slower rate than captive ones, in general.

Just be aware that not all bullying is purely physical - there is a mental aspect as well. Watch closely how much food that your smaller Sully is consuming. And be prepared, because odds are you are going to have to separate them.

I noticed big "shoulders" on his shell, my baby is like that... I guess it's natural. I was wondering why my little one was starting to look like a football player.

I'm very happy for you. What an awesome tort to have, but umm, what about a quarantine period? And running some fecals? Especially for a wild caught animal.

I think you are taking a huge risk putting them together like that. I hate to be a downer, but I personally know of adult male sulcatas that kill other male sulcatas. I would hate to see anything happen to Brutus. Now THAT would be a downer.

I agree Tom, I have 3 ranging from 35-50 lbs and I would not chance putting any with my new 100+, I would be worrying constantly when I wasnt there...are they ok, what is going on, etc. not to mention the intimidation the little ones would have to endure having this huge new guy in their home. I didnt even try it. They are all as happy as pie in their seperate spaces, doesnt even seem like the big guy minds that he is alone.

Maybe it works for some, but I was afraid what I would find if it didnt.

He was caught wild in the 1990's one of the last legal imports he has been in a rescue for a few months and the fella I got him from has had him to a tort specialist and had him for about 4 months with no signs. they will get a nice fat pumpkin this weekend and that should sort out any internal parasites.

never any offense taken my skin is much too thick for that :)

Currently they are sharing the hot house at night and are seperate during the day when there is no adult supervision. Ceaser gave brutus a good shove yesterday during introductions Brutus was looking a bit **** about it . Just checked them in the hot house and they have drawn up to each other. I think my wife fed the fight out of them. there must be 3 heads of kale out there. Well whats left of em. Between our schedules the only have around an hour wihtout anyone here and I will keep them in their seperate pens during active times.
