Activity level & appetite

I changed the UVB bulbs in these guys enclosure and the appetite and activity level changed quite a bit. I probably waited to long to change them. They are eating everything in sight and running around thrashing the enclosure

Are Radiated tortoises the only kind of star tortoise you keep?

Yes and Im pretty crazy about them, Cant wait until they get big

The bigger they get, the bigger the mess... They do really respond well to good light/being outside!

Its starting to cool down quite a bit so they havent been getting the real sun that they need.

I agree. They do eat more when I kept mine outside.

Im using 2 18 inch 10.0 Zoo Med UVB bulbs. Ive tried power sun 100 watt mercury vapor and didnt like them. Ive recently gotten a tip on some 4ft UVB tubes called Verilux I still need to check into them. I think thats my next step. They get outside as much as possible. What kind of lighting would you suggest and what works well for you?
