tipping over/trying to "go through" the aquarium glass

When mine tipped at work it was the scariest thing! See if you can rearrange anything to make climbing more difficult.

tipping over/trying to "go through" the aquarium glass

My little guy would try to climb the rounded corners of a Rubbermaid bin too, I think it has less to do with the glass and more to do with boredom, because he would only do it at 6 in the morning before I would feed him. Like I wasn't fast enough with fresh food. He grew out of it after a few weeks.

    Update and a few questions.

I've had my sully Blastoise for almost two months now and he is doing great! His new growth looks beautiful and smooth, he's grown a half inch and lost his egg tooth. His personality is so funny. He's a stubborn little turd and I am sure that when he is bigger, he will be all sorts of problems...

    Dirty sulcata

I did not have a huge problem with coco coir but when I added peat moss for increased humidity, my tort has become stained black all over.

    Water question!!

I've never seen my baby drink from his dish, but he does like to poop in it, so that is something. :)

    Substrate from Lowe's?

He looks very happy there and I'm sure the right lighting will make him even more happy!those kiddy pools make excellent make-shift enclosures and play pens for many animals. :)

    Substrate from Lowe's?

My local hardware and garden store has blocks of coco coir on sale for a dollar. They also have a seeding mix that is a coco coir and peat moss mix.

    Hides?

Mine was doing the same thing, I had the night temp set to 79 and when I turned it up 82 he stayed in the hide and continues to do so. I think the hides keep a bit cooler than the ambient tempurature.

    Weird question

The first few days I had my baby, I was worried because he hasn't pooped. Then it came. Even my little hatchling is a monster pooper. Ah the joys of pet parenthood. :)

    Shell pattern question

Yeah, I soaked him right away then brought him outside. He gets outside at least three times a week, and has a long uv bulb. He did take a few bites of lettuce, but he didn't eat any weeds outside, which he usually devours. I have a picture, I will try to post it. [hr] [hr] It was hard to get a...

    Shell pattern question

Hey I am still really worried, today was the first day my baby was all alone all day and sure enough, I came home to find him flipped over. He had flipped before, but I moved things around so he wasn't climbing. He loves to try and climb... I believe he was flipped for quite some time and his...

    Shell pattern question

Actually, two questions. First off, how long do I have to worry about my baby just failing to thrive? I'm constantly worried that one day I will wake up to a suddenly sick animal past the point of no return.. But also, I am wondering about his shell pattern. He has very dark markings in the...

    ISO Reputable Dealer

I had narrowed it down to the same three and I meant to ultimately buy from tortoisesuply but in a hurry I accidentally realized I purchased from blackwater. That was really stupid on my part, mixing up the website and by the time i realized, he had shipped already. Anyway, I would not recommend...

    Just noticed soft/flexible shell

He does not get the calcium everyday, but every other day which turns into 3-4 times a week, I can cut that back to 2-3. He also has a small water saucer always full.

    Just noticed soft/flexible shell

I have had my tortoise for a two weeks now and I just noticed when I picked him up that the back of his shell is either soft or flexible. It is the small part right under the last scute that flares out over his tail. Normal or not?? He is just over two inches long, and the rest of his shell...

    Any Michigan sully owners

I am in Wisconsin, not quite Mi, but we still have long cold winters. Right now we have a hatching in a large steralite bin, but our plan is to either build a large heated shed for him as he grows, or a greenhouse kind of thing. We have a few acres to work with, and can't wait till he is big and...

    New baby

After last Friday, which was one week from when I got him he has been doing so much better! he is running around like crazy and has what I can only assume is a true sully personality because he runs into anything if he wants to go that way. I put him in the middle of the floor and runs at the...
