The threadstarter is from the Phillippines. It is hot and definately not just sun rays.
The problem I think is the management of humidity as it is VERY humid in the Phillippines.
If the sick ones r kept indoors u can use a electric dehumidifier to reduce the humidity if not one of those disposable ones work too but be prepared to change it very frequently.
Best way I think to stop RNS is to neubulize yr tort with saline n Baytril. Baytril is an antibiotic but pretty...
This is Amber
He/She have been having runny nose for about a year. Saline drops, nebulization, anti-biotic jabs all don't work. I think she is just sensitive as the other 2 (Sheldon & Jasper) (which I keep separate from her) don't have it.
Anyway, I stopped getting concerned as she is...
The vet said that the pitting in the shell is due to malnutrition at some point in their life
Also the bigger one have shell rot at the bottom of the shell. Luckily it was nothing major.
I'm still very very pissed.
I collected the torts yesterday and the conditions they were kept in are really appalling!!! I will retype them here again but I accidently clicked on Google Maps and clicked away the long essay I wrote earlier :(
I'm surprised that these torts are still alive...
Thank you all for your kind words. However, I'm not in USA so I can't rehome them to one of you guys nor can I suggest a hedgehog breeder.
HarleyK> Yes I'm a member of MFK. In fact if you're into bichirs, I just got myself a Kamihata bred Polypterus bichir bichir :)
Ok It's a bit OOT and the pictures are bad but here are the rays below. My siggy calls for an update though coz I no longer keep them as they got too big for my tank. Just sold off my Gulper Cats yesterday too. I do have other exotics though.
Mata Mata Turtle...
It's a friend of a friend and it's going to be free. Just about an hour's drive away from where I am.
I hv no intentions of keeping with my current animals till the vet gives them a clean bill of health
Thx for the adv though
they are rather poorly kept by the current owner. He wants to give them up and I figured the best I can do is give them a good home (I already hv 3 at home).
I have only seen the pics of the torts and not seen the actual torts yet. According to the current owner, both torts are healthy and...
Hedgehogs are not rodents like what most people think
They belong to the order of Erinaceidae.
Hedgehogs have canine teeth like dogs/cat and not incisors like rodents.
Which is why you don't have to worry about them trying to chew through their cage or wires.[hr]
Well, they’re...
They are really easy to keep
I use kitty litter though there are other beddings you can use as well.
They are kinda like hamsters except that they don't chew everything like hamsters do
Exercise is on a large Guinea Pig wheel
Food is basically cat food and stuff like carrots
Well I think they are really easy to keep and relatively odourless if you are hardworking in clearing their poop.
Only thing is that you require lots of patience so that they get used to you and not turn into a pin cushion everytime you walk near them.
Well, I don’t think it’s a media problem but it’s more like your filter is working at its max capacity as the
Fluval 205 Canister filter is good for tanks up to 40 gallons. It also depends on the number of fish you have in your tank and the amount you feed them daily.
I...
Actually any item will do as long as it can lift it up to the correct height.
Mine has not recovered yet. It is just better but the right leg is still not well. Left hind is much better now though
When a tort is kept on a flat surface for a long time they tend to develop lazy hind legs
My Sheldon have this problem too when I got him (he’s adopted)
Anyway, what you can do is to tie a cap bottle below his shell with a ribbon to help him train his leg because when they get lazy...
