Alright :) Thanks. I was just really worried that he should be growing more. My last Tort was kinda trusted on me when my brother's friend couldn't take care of him anymore, but he was full grown by then... and I was like 10... so I don't really remember exactly how big he was.

So we got my Russian a few days after christmas last year. He was about 4 inches then... I just measured him and he's only 5 inches now. Is that a healthy growth rate? or do you think I'm missing something in his diet? I know I need to get a UV bulb, I just haven't had the time to go...

I have a russian. I soak him every day for 10-20 min ish depending on when he goes to the bathroom. I arrowed to the spots where it's peeling

So I've noticed his shell peeling... only because I like to run my hand over it once in a while and my finger or nail will get a little snagged on it... is there medicine I should use? or some sort of food I need to add in? merrr... Thanks :(

His floor is made of pea rocks, and ever since I got the calcium, he hasn't tried eating the rocks. Idk what the difference is, but it works for me.

Ahh!!! I am so glad someone brought this up!! CALCIUM!!! My Russian was trying to eat rocks for the longest time... I looked it up on russiantortoise.org, which is where I usually get all of my information, and they say it's from a lack of calcium :) All I did was get a little 3oz...

Haha, we have basic tools ;) But thanks!! You and Barb really helped :) My only other concern is "decoration" in his cage? All we have right now is a bed area he can burrow in to sleep, a water dish, the lamp & rock, a hide away, and his food dish... anything else you suggest to make him...
