Turbo's enclosure will be dismantled in the coming weeks. She passed away at 3:45 today after struggling with MBD the last month or so. It all started a few weeks after I got a solarglo light because I wanted to save money. By the time I realized what was wrong and put a new powersun in, the...

Hello all, I have an update on my sulcata named turbo. Well she's called Turbo, Turbette, Turbadurb, Turbinator and my cousin calls her Turd lol. She is growing very slowly, I have started using a calcium spray since she hates powdered calcium. I also have a calcium dish in her enclosure...
Thanks for all the advise Tom and I apologize for the late response as I recently got a Gecko from someone who was having trouble caring for it. I took it off her hands because she was freaking out and thought it was going to die.
I agree that there are so many different things I've been told...
The hay that is in the enclosure has no calcium. I add the calcium into her daily hay/green mix and give a spray with filtered water. Then I dice it all up so that the scent from the fresh greens covers up the smell of the calcium. She also licks the juice off the rock, so very little calcium...
Thanks for the response Jacob. Sadly, his condition has worsened considerably since my original post. His shell overall has gone from hard, to soft and springy. :( I pray I'm just over-reacting. In the least he will meet his new primary and get a full exam.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Turbo has an appointment with 1 of the very few qualified herp vets in RI tomorrow. I called 16 clinics and only 1 has the ability to examine and treat my sully. He just got over the upper respiratory infection he had when I got him, now this. He was doing so...
Thanks for the reply and bump. Soft doesn't seem the right word, pliable is more accurate. The top is hard and he has no trouble walking and isn't lethargic. He even pushes up when I rub him on the top of his head. But if I sit him on my hand, I can sorta feel the inhale when he breathes. I only...
My gut tells me you're right. Turbo is a generic name, so it'll suit her just as well. I love her just as much. I could always call her turbette, but my tort comes to me when I say Turbo, so I don't want to confuse my sully. :-D[hr]
Thanks.
I plan on getting a house within 3 years, so I...
I have a 4 month old sulcata tortoise named Turbo whom I brought back to health and I believe he is doing great. However, I am concerned about the softness of his plastron. It's kinda soft and flexible and last week he peed gritty calcium, which caused me to cut down on how much calcium I've...
He's about 3 months old, the hay is a tortoise salad mix from carolina herp supply with orchard hay mixed in and yes he eats it. He'll eat some veggies like collard greens, mustard greens, kale and dandelion greens, then he'll go up to the basking area and eat some hay. Once a week I give him a...
I have upgraded Turbo's enclosure. It now has a powersun MVB bulb over his basking area, a water bowl with a ramp and a half log tunnel. I also made a video of my sully.
Please enjoy.

That last pic is Turbos night time setup...
Thank you, I'm glad to have given you some ideas. A happy tort is well worth the inspiration. Turbo is always up on his basking level. He'll face the UV light with his head down and front legs out and snooze for a bit. Then he'll turn around and stick his back legs out and sleep for a little...
It's a reptisun 10.0 on a clamp, trust me I am not happy with it :( . It's a temporary solution as I'm going to a reptile show in New Hampshire in a week and plan on buying a zoo med powersun, better lamp and a bigger water dish amongst a few things on my list. I am concerned because of the bad...
:tort:Hello everyone, recently I built a tortoise enclosure for my Sully Turbo. It's a 105 QT storage bin by sterilite. The upper level is 2 6 QT sterilite containers with 1 side of each removed, both bought from walmart. They were hot glued together on both sides. The sides that were cut off...
lol You're likely right, I've had a hunch my sully is a girl. My best friend said I should call my sully Turbette if it turns out he's really a she. I love him or her just the same :D
Hello everyone, My name is Tommy and I recently got a sulcata tortoise I named Turbo. The breeder was raising him on lettuce and he was very sick. He had bubbles come from his nose and wouldn't move. When I picked him up and wiped his nose, he came out of his shell and the look in his eye just...
