My tortoises got attacked by fire ants tonight, one of them looks fine but the others eye is swollen . Any advice until i can get these guys checked out in the morning by a vet ? I am soaking them now.
Sulcatas. I had it in the 70's when it got to low 50's but it got to low 40's outside last night. I think am going to keep them inside for the winter. I will build something a lot more effiecent by next winter.
My outdoor enclosure got down to the 50s when I went and checked on them this morning. I brought them inside. I guess I am going to build an indoor tort table for these really cold days.
So just an update on my stubborn torts, I boosted the heat in the heated part of the enclosure , made some better hides, and kept moving them every night to the heated/covered side before I went to bed. This whole week before I went to bed they were already where they needed to be.
This is my first year with outdoor torts in the winter. It is 80 in the day right now and 50 at night. Obviously the night temp is to cool for the torts (2 One year olds). My problem is the torts have a covered/heated side of the enclosure and an open side. The torts hardly ever go into the...
As of right now I have the covered side boarded up from the outside, I have a small hole that I can open up on nice days to the outside part of the enclosure. Thanks for the ideas

Yea I have mostly bermuda I patched a few areas with st augustine. A coworker of mine said he didn't like the winter rye because it stains clothes , shoes . I dunno maybe I will just seed a small test area.
