jack 009.JPGJust wondering how big Russians typically get? Mine is now 6in. (I measured his shell from head to tail). I think he's 5-6 years old. Any guesses?

From what I've read id say not much bigger then 8 inchs if that. But someone else may chime in with a professional opinion.

Males get 5-6 inches and females can get 6-8 or maybe even 9 inches. If yours is 6 inches, my first guess would be that he is actually a female...can we see a shot of his/her underside?

That is about as big as he's going to get. Females can range from 6-8 inches. I've heard of some females almost hitting the 10-11 inch mark but it's not common.

We have an 8 inch female that continues to grow.

He's been vet checked and she confirmed he's a male. If he's already 6 inches now (he has grown in the past year or so) how old do you figure he is?

Difficult to say, but at least 5 yoa...may grow a little bigger, but not much more.

Thanks. I want to extend his enclosure, but wasn't sure how big his mature size would be. He now has a 4 1\2 ft x 2 1\2 ft custom biult 'house' and he seems comfortable, but my husband and I have plans to make it bigger. He loves to move around qiute a bit.

If inside, try for a minimum of 6' X 4', outside, as large as you can...he'll be happier/healthier.

If floor space is a problem, there are a few pretty innovative ideas in Enclosures for making a two- (or even three-) level inside enclosure that'll make him feel like he's got more "roaming room".
