Thank you so much for the explanation. That sounds very reasonable and logical and made me realize how much I do not know about Tortoises :D. So interesting! And I learn every day something new :).

After trying so about everything - even pouring water right in there in her enclosure (we talk about lots of water) and still all in all a hydration level of 30 Percent, I decided to go nuts.
Now Mr. Bubbles is in a smaller Rubbermaid container, located in our basement (hydration is better...
Thanks again, Tom, I will try to keep that in mind :D
And hopefully post eventually a pic from my little bit Hermann, when he is all grown up and walking through his outdoor enclosure sometime :).

Thank you Tom, that is a great idea. For now I will do the little humid hide box, that will work for sure till I get more informations. And you are right, I will try to pm now. Normally I do not pm without any invite, but in this case I guess I have to be bold , because I really am worried...
Now I am confused.
After learning in several post that I read and books that I checked out on Hermann (well Russian anyway, since there are not that many books on Hermann, but I am told, I can go for the instructions for Russians too?) before we got our little Mr. Bubbles I assumend that...
Yes, its repti bark - mixed with bits of coco coir stuff. I wish, I could build the whole room into a tortoise haven and get a few more...Especially when he sits in the waterbowl and soaks and eats parallel or wipes his face with his paws. So cute. Could watch him at all the time. ;).
And yes...
After Mr. Bubbles was feeling quite home in his old enclosure for the last couple of months, I had to decide to upsize again quite soon. He seemed to be not moving around anymore and being just miserable. The temperature was just way to high in the "cold spot", only at night with out the lamps...
So cute!! I am not at all an expert, but Mr. Bubbles (my "hermann" - about 8 months old, looks about the same with this crease there too). I do know that I made a big mistake with the hydration and I did not know that they baby ones need so much hydration, so I am actually not sure, if my one...
Hi everybody,
since our little Herman is only getting spring mix here from the store at the moment (everything else outside is not trustworthy, due to pesticides and such) I started a greenhouse where I try to grow grass and daisies and dandelion from seeds for her to snack on eventually.
I...
Hi - since my fresh started seedlings for my little Hermann tort Bubble will take a while to grow - how about Basil, Chives, Parsley and co? And fresh grown grass from normal grass seeds, indoors?
And how about fresh cabbage leaves from my back yard?
And cucumber leaves and Dill?
Does that...
Its a Hermann, and as far as I heard, they don't like it to moist? I soak her every other day though. Sometimes, when it was very hot, every day. But please - let me know if you think its necessary...
Another question...after Bubbles took everything in view and walked around for quite a...
Bubbles in her new enclosure... running around and exploring already for quite a while... hope that is a good sign :). It seemed like, once she found her sleeping log, she was ok and could go on exploring... :).
Greetings from Nanni and Bubbles
