My wife Rose would envy you. Tomorrow she leaves for 10 days. New Jersey then the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and then New York city. There are going to be 17 filpina women in the group. That alone should make for a interesting trip.

I would love to go to Niagara Falls and the musical side of me would love New York. My friend seems to go there every year!

Jacky is 88. How old is Opo? Jacky's partner Daisy was 80 when she put to sleep in 2022.

Opo will be 7 yrs old in June.
Wow 88 and 80 that is amazing. I don't know their history. Did you inherit from a family member. Were Jacky and Daisy raised together?

Please could we see a photo of Opo. Mum had Jacky and another little tortoise she was eight years and Jacky was already quite big so I put Jacky at dad's age. Jacky's original partner didn't make through their first winter because they were attacked by a mouse during hibernation. Mum and Nana decided to get Jacky a partner (they thought Jacky was a boy but several years later a vet said that she was Jacqueline) and so they bought little Daisy from the same place. Daisy was quite small so I put her at mum's age. Jacky and Daisy had seventy-two years together before Daisy was put to sleep. Mum passed away in 2008 and dad and I looked after Jacky and Daisy until he developed Alzheimer's and I cared for them all.

I am installing drywell similar Ray but like the bad habits in pet stores for our little guys, you have adopted some "plumbing bad habits". That setup is used by millions of plumbers and off-grid folks and for a washer and sink, it's perfect.
but for a tub or other large volume fixture...it's a different story.
IF you fill it full of gravel, you effectively limit it's volume and capacity to process....the key is using large stones & having "overflow" holes at 2/3rds the height & that's where your gravel should end...and use large gravel not pea as it tends to leave you more empty spaces. Ending the fill at 2/3rds gives you some "head room" for surges, like my 166 gallon tub.
I finished my plumbing work this morning....is it cliché to say I do my best work at night? LOL
The trap is needed for the tub (coming down into the trap)so I installed a rolling offset for the sink and washer. The theory being that if I drain the tub at 1/2 open, it will fill and flow through the trap before backing up to the level of the sink drain.
I tested the laundry sink with 10 gallons or so and filled my tub up with 20 or so and let them go to test them
We're good now, just need that bigger tank outside. Maybe I'll dig it today if the rain hold off....we had lots last night and high winds....a lot of debris outside this morning.
It's a small world....Kerry and I both want to return to Niagara falls. We each went as children. We also have a month or two at Yellowstone on our bucket list.

Wow that's awesome you know their beginnings. Seventy two years together, did Jacky act differently after Daisy passed?
I have been to Yellowstone but was very young. I don't remember anything about it. That is definitely on my bucket list too visit Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon.

I have never put gravel in the drum. Just set the cut bottom of the drum. On top of the gravel then about a 3rd up the outsides of the barrel before filling in.
I can see where your method would be more efficient. Especially using larger stone instead of pea gravel.

Not only for me,but my mother in law (Nanay) is using it also. For her arthritis in her hands. We are definitely going to buy at least one more.

Gorgeous! How much does Opo weigh so that I can get an even better idea of his size?
I put Jacky outside for the first time this year just over an hour ago and she is getting much needed exercise and fresh air. When Daisy was put to sleep on the 17th November 2022 Jacky was going into hibernation but she woke up on that day and got to say goodbye. I will never forget this because when I got back I was able to give her a cuddle. It was almost like she new something was going to happen and she was there when family weren't. When she came out of hibernation I noticed little differences because when there were two of them it used to be Daisy hibernating after Jacky and waking up earlier and also settling down later in the evening. However Jacky was rather unsettled and kept coming out of the pet carrier but she seems more settled this year.

Yes, a Zoller 1/2hp.....way overkill! It sounds like a jet, then BAM against the check. We are going up to get a list at Lowes tomorrow, Kerry came over this evening. 1 of the things on the list....1-1/2" silent vertical check valve.
and dang your little guy is PERFECT! Really gorgeous!

This morning was a lesson of today's world. We went to Home depot with a list of 8 items....they didn't have the painted 1" screws...of any type so off to Lowes...they didn't either. Kerry was unable to find the Cabinet pulls and the cost of some of the items caused us to come back home and have breakfast....then we went for a chilly walk along the Bay. When we got home she put the new backing on the china closet she's refinishing. I went online and in ten minutes had everything on the list but her pulls, all for better pricing than either store had....and they will bring it all to me for free.
I haven't been using mine for the past year but I know Ray finally got around to playing with his and he's liking it!
