Good afternoon evening all.
The weather has been dreadful today with very high winds and yet more heavy rain, some areas in Ireland and on the west coast of the UK have been hit by Storm Kathleen with another storm from France moving in to the south west tomorrow - so keep safe Natrah and Angie!!
Alfie and I managed to get out for a good walk along a canal yesterday and just a short walk today during a dryish spell but he doesn't like the rain.
My sister and her clan are having a great time in Texas where it's much drier and warmer. They stayed at Houston and Kemah but should be in San Antonio by now where they hope the weather stays clear for Tuesday's total eclipse.
They are already planning another trip to North Africa for another eclipse in 2027! We won't see one in the UK until 2090 and we'll be long gone by then - even the youngest members of the family will be in their 60's!!
I hope you're all having a good, dry weekend. Anyone in the NY area feel the earth move this weekend? I hope the earthquake hasn't caused any damage.
The eclipse went past me today. So your family might be staying for the party tomorrow too. 😊 Mr. Fre woke up around 2pm and played his little heart out and promptly fell asleep through the eclipse at 3:14pm. He's resting again so he can give me a ruff time later 😁

Good morning everyone!

Are you all looking forward to the eclipse over in the States?

Natrah
I actually enjoy an eclipse even though I don't watch them. So yes. It was nice even though it didn't go totally dark. There's like a release of pressure in the atmosphere and a wonderful supply of fresh air through it It's a few moments of total peace. 😊

No, my only son is a Solicitor over here. He was an athlete in college but the "desk" has added weight....lol

My grandson has Russel silvers & autism syndrome so he looks like a Leprechaun, puberty at 7 years old...it's been tough for him. His folks to me, babied him. He showed courage when he accepted my offer, he knows I have a reputation as a hardazz and he just got a real live dose of reality & hard work...and he did pretty well! He's a cool kid though, compassionate and aware. He came over a few years ago and we built a scooter with a kids toy and my big motors....when he twisted the grip, it did wheelies!

I knew I should slow down today, I just picked a log out of my eye, at least it felt like one. Saturday I stepped on a board full of rusty nails. I had seen it earlier too.....it went into my heel through my shoe, deep. Kerry had a conniption over my blowing it off but I did put some Neosporin on the hole...not much you can do with punctures. It hurt bad the next day but no swelling or red lines and today, all better! Even after 12 yrs, she doesn't really believe in superman....or maybe she just realizes that she's destined to be with an idiot? LOL
Is your tetanus jab up to date |Jeff - can't be too careful with skin punctures and rusty/dirty nails!!

I have the best sleep number bed they make. It is about 6yrs old. I had a water bed for yrs in my 20's and 30's. I truly believe that is where my back problems started. It was the old style with no baffles in it.
My husband and I had a waterbed,
I loved him with all of my heart,
I thought we'd be together forever
but sadly
we drifted apart.

(A little ditty I wrote many years ago inspired by a waterbed shop that opened in one of our towns)

Once upon a time, I was falling in love. Now I am just falling apart. There's nothing I can do, a total eclipse of the heart.😁
That song has been playing in my head all day.
Now it's you all turn. 🤣
'Turn around bright eyes'...............
Sung by a great Welsh singer from Swansea- Bonnie Tyler

LMAO.....LMFAO......gee Ray, you really destroy a train of thought!

thru the phone, thru the glasses. We were at around 10% here, maybe. I went out and let the Painter look....he had never seen it before so that made it super cool. I think we reach peak at 3:21...

I watched it live on the NASA website so tracked it across states. Shame about the cloudy conditions but some places had a great view. It was very impressive and the shot from the space station showing the shadow/umbra of the moon on earth was incredible.

Good afternoon/evening all, a very exciting day for some members who managed to catch the eclipse. I haven't spoken to my sister yet so don't know if clouds spoilt their view - it's still a great experience though. I found it quite moving and I was only watching it online!! Good job I wasn't there, I would have made a right fool of myself 😭
I thought it was tomorrow but luckily our news channels were reporting on it all day so I didn't miss it.
The weather here is still very wet, but we may have some dry weather on the way for the end of April - 2025 !😁
I do like rain but we also need some dry days to let it soak in a bit.
I hope you all enjoyed your special day.

Was the eclipse the main reason they came or do they have other plans while they're in San Antonio/Texas?

The Bike is a RD350 Ray- 1975...known as "The Giant Killer" back in the day....light, quick, great handling....needs restoration....I won't be doing it..it's going into the For Sale pile of bikes.

Kerry and Warren would have a great time together....LOL their humor is similar...she'd have loved that!

I have slept on a waterbed for 50 yrs............there are days where I "need to get out of this bed" but there is no other bed on the planet that feels as good to fall into on a cool night. I won't even get into the REAL reason I originally got one.....yup. Sometimes folks have trouble getting in or out, I teach them how to roll. Kerry tolerated it for 10 yrs before complaining.....she's like you guys and gets back issues. I don't seem to.

Kerry & I bought a bed around 6 yrs ago for her home, standard pillowtop and VERY nice, I even liked it better than my waterbed but it's developing trenches so we'll have to replace it. Didn't beds used to last 20yrs? Or is that just how long we kept them?

I do appreciate knowing that Sleep # beds have a separation btwn sections..no sense going there, I wouldn't like that.

Wasn't there a song about a guy who flies to go see it by Carly Simon?

If you have a pile of bikes. I have a friend who buys piles of bikes. He likes all bikes from the 70's and older.
Sleep number makes a queen with no split. They also make a king that the upper or lower half is split. I can't remember which way they make it.
We have a total split so we can adjust the head or foot up or down to our individual liking.
I agree on beds breaking down a lot sooner than they did before. I guess they don't want people using them for 20yrs anymore.

They went especially for the eclipse. They were in Ca in January visiting their son who is based there with the RAF for a few years, and they all met up again in Texas last weekend. They plan to go to North Africa to see the total eclipse there in 2027.

Good morning all.
Wow the wind here has really been blowing a hooley all night and seems it will carry on for most of today. I feel really sorry for the nesting birds - they must have lost some eggs/chicks to it.
I have to have a quick trip to my GP surgery today - they are after my blood!
So have a good day and TTFN

Our city got around 98% covered. I sat with my critters as usual. They slept but this time I was able to leave the curtains open. The sun was over the house when we got almost total totality. A lot of places actually cleared up right on time and the people got to see it anyway.😊

You can't believe what happened to my deaf brother 😭 he had to work. Him and I have been having a tiff about him wanting to work at 3. I wanted his hours to start at 4. Well he won yesterday 😁 he absolutely loves those kind of things so I kinda feel sorry for him.... not!!! That's something he'd do 😉

And well since you are a klutz like me having a little bit of betadine around helps too. I'll bet your grandson is an inspiration to your family. As Joe is to ours.😊
