Hello! My name is Melody and I have a little redfoot tortoise baby. He's my first tortoise that I've owned, but I've taken care of many while I was a zookeeper. (I don't know if mine is a he or she, but for the sake of the post...it's a 'he') - my wonderful, creative boyfriend has named him "Little Tortoise", I just call him L.T.

I've had him about a week or so now, and he's doing great. Awesome appetite and pretty active. I'm feeding him a variety of produce and greens, as well as Zoo Med Forest Tortoise food. I've tried feeding him a few mealworms, but he hasn't shown any interest in them. How important are the bugs with the Zoo Med food? Can I give him the canned bugs?

Anyway, I look forward to poking around here and reading all I can about my little guy (girl?) :D

Hello and welcome. I've seen many red foot keepers offer hard boiled egg, chicken and earth worms as the occasional protein source.
