I recently purchased a baby Red-foot cherry head tortoise and although I know alot about reptiles mostly snakes and lizards I've never owned a tortoise or turle. Do tortoises generally not move alot in their enclosures? My baby spends alot of time in his hide, and I only see him eat after I take him out and place him in his food bowl. Are these normal tortoise behaviors? If not any and all suggestions are welcome.

Babies do sleep a lot. Also, they need time to get used to their new home. Double check that your temps and humidity is correct. Also, try not to look in on him all the time, at least don't let him see you. Also helps to soak in the morning and then put in by the food.
