My son is looking to get a Greek. He has been researching for a year and just built a tortoise table for his room. We live in the Albany area and are having a difficult time locating one. I was told that you may be able to help. Thanks!!

  • About

I've been keeping and breeding tortoises and turtles for almost 35 years. Most of that time has been concentrated on northern Testudo species including three Hermann's subspecies, Ibera Greeks, Marginateds & Russians. In the past I have had the opportunity to have kept (and in some cases have bred) some really amazing species. Some very rare. Some of the species that I've kept: Redfoots, Burmese Browns, Sulcata, Bell's Hingebacks, Elongated, Egyptian, Parrot Beak, Speckled Cape & Bowsprit tortoises, As well as several species of American and Asian Box turtles and European and Northern American land and water turtles.
Several captive born baby tortoises are born at my place each year, usually in the late summer & early fall.
I strive to maintain my animals in as natural conditions as possible which is why they spend from early spring to late fall outdoors 24/7. Most are maintained or hibernated through the winter months indoors, some outdoors.
I believe that in order for new keepers to be successful they need to get the correct care information from the start. They should always seek advice from various experienced keepers and then decide what will best benefit their tortoise in their environment and situation.
