wel sometimes tortoises don't make it. Epecially when they're in bad condition to begin with. So my mom called and said one of the new homes hingebacks had died. Bummer. But pretty typical with fresh imports unfortunately. About 3 weeks after this event. Wookie one of the long haired daschounds brought a tortoise to me while I was down there for the weekend. Low and behold it was that homes. Apparently it was not deceased. We place expired animals in a specific location where they can decay and use the shells as education and or check if any eggs have been inside to incubate. This animal was burried and emerged apparently. So this bad boy was living in south Texas for 3 weeks in the jungle. Ha. He's doing fine. Is incredibly shy and looks dead when checked on. So to say the least check three times before being certain. Appears to have been eating fallen fruits of the papaya, guava, and lots of moss. Interesting coloration of food on its beak(when you can see it sneak peaking at him). Funny thing about this animal. Is that it was also missed by both me, my mom and my brother when we were loading all the tortoises up in Dallas back in December. Was inside burried in the greenhouse for 3 weeks in winter weather and now this. She's a tank I tell yah.
