I was just contacted by a woman about my Craigslist ad about trading my two juvenile Redfoot for one LARGE male and she has one reported to be 15"!
I'm going to her home, not far away to be sure that she knows how to care for them and maybe come home with a boy!

Here he is. An actual HE this time.
At 12.5 inches, he's not the 15 incher that was advertised.
The lady that owned him and now owns my two small redfoot has her whole backyard dedicated as a sanctuary and has had tortoises since she was a young girl living in Colombia.
Her females are all too young and this big guy lived apart from them.
A perfect deal for both humans and tortoises alike.
I've enclosed three photos. Somehow, I managed to not get his tail in the photo. He is currently in isolation while he is being observed. He hasn't seen the girls yet.....

Now that's a male. Good luck. He looks nice. How many females do you have.

Three females. Two at 12" plus and a 9 incher.
Thanks again. I'm very happy.
So can you trust where he came from that he was alone for a while,How long did the last owner have him for, maybe you don't need to quarantine for that long. I some times wonder about this quarantine business. Its safe to just say quarantine everything, but where is the line drawn really. The 2 extremes are probably:-

1. A wild caught tortoise that could be carrying alsorts and must be quarantined and vetted.
2. A tort that has been alone all of its life in good care. Surely this in effect has been quarantined all its life.

Maybe some experienced tort owners could expand on this subject.

I have no doubt at all you are wanting to get all your torts together asap.

Bet your over the moon at the minute.

He's only in isolation so that I can make sure he eats and "poops" normally, etc.
I'm 99% sure he's healthy.
I've added new hides to the community pen in case a female needs to get away. Maybe it'll be he that needs to run and hide?
