Winter Question

Okay tort peeps!

This is my first winter where Bowser is outside on his heated hide. He seems to be sleeping more than normal. Is it normal for their activity level to decrease in the winter? He eats about every other day, maybe every third day. Still poos in his warm soaks. Looks the same and gets annoyed and glares at me when I wake him for his soaks, just isn't as mobile and active as usual.

It is normal for many. Some go on just as always but I think most are aware of the weather change even if they inside and kept warm. Charlie has been outside for years. He slows down in the winter. He will go days between coming out to graze. We've had some mild weather lately so he has been out every day. Last year, he stayed in his heated hide for weeks at a time.

I agree they, most, will slow for winter. My leopards and Russian is in a heated, 80 degree shed and although they are warm, have a basking spot, and light, they still all act very different in the winter months. It usually goes in spurts. Slow down, then more normal, then slow down, then, normal, you get where I'm going with this and it goes on most of the winter.

Oh, just be sure the temps are correct and he can still bask under a light that reaches 95-100

Speedy has slowed down quite a bit also , but has been out and about almost every day at least for a little while ! This warm weather has been a blessing for him !
