A friend of mine found this guy in a cherry farm while they went cherry picking in Northern California.

So who am I?? A desert tortoise?

I think you nailed it. I was all set to say it was some kind of pond turtle, but I don't know our native pond turtle species.

Definitely not a tortoise, Desert or otherwise.

Oh you guys...that's not a tortoise. It's a water turtle. I don't think it's an A. marmorata, though. It looks like a slider to me. If you can ask your friend to wet the tortoise and clean it off so we can better see the 'design' on the carapace, we can give you a better answer.

They been good, they did the right thing, they only took picture of this guy, did not touch him, did not taking him home.

So we can only work from the three picture we have.

If it is a turtle, he is very far away from any body of water. Best luck to his guy.
