I crush human multi-vitamins and use a portion on the food every couple weeks or so, depending on how varied and fresh the diet has bee.

Other than cuttle bone, I don't need anything else. Their diet has enough good stuff in it. But I did buy some TNT a while ago from Carolina Pet Supply and I sprinkle that on sometimes.

I really only use cuttlebone myself. I buy it at my local feed and grain store for about 25 cents each.

It was probably me, I use Centrum for sick torts but for healthy ones I don't use anything but cuttlebone. For babies I use Gerber Poly Vi Sol or bird vitamins, once a week or so, for sick babies every day.

I choose to use human supplements because they are regulated by the FDA - we KNOW what is in them. Reptile supplements can be iffy.

I've been using cuttlebone and TNT from Carolina Pet Supply. People on the russian tortoise forum seem to really like the TNT.

(It is possible to make a supplement very similar to TNT, I have done this, using ingredients from my local natural food store ;) )

TNT has the following... Would you really find this stuff in a store?

Each order is mixed the day it is shipped to insure freshness.

ingredients: ingredients:
•barley grass powder
•Roselle powder (Hibiscus)
•powdered orchard grass hay
•dandelion leaf powder
•plantain leaf powder
•wheat grass powder
•chickweed powder
•raspberry leaf powder
•rose hip powder
•mulberry powder
•spirulina
•chlorella
•and more...
•OPTIONAL...Professional Grade Probiotics with microencapsulated (so more survive the digestive process and end up in the intestines where they are needed) beneficial bacteria

I did a search for dandilion leaf powder and sure enough:

I don't have to track it down - my local natural food store carries all that and more. So for me, it is cheaper and easier, I can buy enough ingredients for 10X the amount of supplement as what one small bottle of TNT would cost.

Maybe so, but Joe at Carolina Pet Supply knows the correct amount of each ingredient that goes into the little packet that he sells.

Small bottle?????

The TNT I bought has lasted a year with just a small bag. Not sure I'd want 10X that amount...
