    Hi all,

I adopted a new yellow footed baby last Sunday and I am so excited. Little did I know that Mango is really just a new baby, because even the egg tooth is still attached.

He seems to only want to drink water and eat tiny lil bit. I took him to grass on second day and he was eating some. But now he only eats hibiscus leaf and flower for lil small amount. The rest is drinking. He pisses all the time too, maybe because of the water he has been drinking.

Im wondering what I should feed this baby. Should I grind veggie juice or something? How about real baby food that people sell in store?

I need advice on how to take real good care of this precious lil baby. Im currently putting him in the same enclosure with 2 baby cherry heads and they are getting along fine.

    Please help :)

He’s gorgeous!! Where did you get him from? If you already have Cherry Heads, then continue the same environment and diet as them. He can eat perfectly fine without having to make pieces too small. I cut some pieces small with my babies because otherwise they will pick out what they like in their dish and leave other stuff behind.

Hi Wendy and thank you! I got him from local seller here. I didnt realise he was that small but he is so beautiful indeed.
I always mix the food together yes indeed, those lil rascals would only eat fruits and they go absolutely crazy over mangoes.

Im just worried because he is so small, but I did see him eating grass the other day. I dont know why he isnt eating much. Could it be he is still adapting? :( I mean both my cherries were like that too and took them over a week to start munching.

    Yes.
It's very common for any tortoise of any age to not eat much when placed into a new environment.
And that is an especially good looking Yellowfoot.

Thank you for the kind words. Any advice what I should feed him though? And is that okay that he drinks water most of the time rather than eating?

The same as you feed the redfoots.

I'd like to say this again, despite the echo, feed them what the person you got them from fed. Even if it's not an optimal diet, keeping the food going-in is important and diet can be corrected once the newness of the enclosure gets old.

There are section in the forum on diets in general and for each species there is a care guide.

I suggest reading Terry Kilgore's web-page as well. http://turtletary.com/torts.html (it looks like he is updating content right now). @Redfoot NERD when will that be ready?

    Drinking is a good sign.
I didn't respond about the food because I'm unfamiliar with what you have available in Indonesia.
Can you find some edible flowers or fruit?
Something brightly colored should get him to start eating.
The food should be very similar to what your Redfoot eat already. Just a little less fruit than them.

I normally give them mix veggies like romaine, mustard green, grass (i leave them on grass in morning under supervision), opuntia, hibiscus leaves, hibiscus flowers, butternut, carrot, fruits like mango, banana, papaya, apple (they somehow dont like strawberry). And few repcals because the previous seller gave them these.
