ox turtles don't tear up plants like some other species do.

I concur with tortdad, my box turtles use plants for cover not for a snack. I've seen them give my hostas or ferns a sniff but never take a bite. My preference is to keep the plants in pots. Just easier for me to clean out the enclosure and the plants overall health.

Here is an old post from here on the subject. No one here is trying to offend you by any means. Just like many on here and my experience with box turtles, I've personally never see them eat any of my plants, doesn't mean that one wouldn't. Below is a link to that discussion along with another link for possible edible plants.

I do believe I mentioned pansies, and nastriums, both plants, both edible.

Ialso have never seen my box turtle eat any plants in the enclosure. I would suggest just putting safe plants in there in case they were to nibble on it but do not expect it to be the food source. check out the thread previously listed and there should be plenty of plants in there to choose from.
