First month of me having the little one, so id like to post some pics and make sure things look ok if you all dont mind looking? The baby looks quite alright to me, but id feel better if you folks double check me. Length is just shy of 2.5 inches, and weight is 42.5 grams. Thanks for taking time and helping me rear my fist baby ;)

Sure thing, heres a few of the tort play house, lol...ive made my own mixture of substrate, a layer of cypress, then a layer of sphagnum, i added another layer of cypress and topped it off with some reptibark on top, i find the bark dries well on top layer. The hide i put a lot more sphagnum moss then the rest of the enclosure. The average temp in main area is low to mid 80's, inside the hide its about 91 degrees. Humity is tween 70-80% throughout enclosure. For lighting i have a 100w reptisun, and a 75w infrared for night. I have a heat pad affixed below the hide on underside of tank. I have just ordered online a bunch of plastic suction cup plant things to make shade. Also, i have plexiglass over 50% of the top to keep in humidity and heat.Let me know what u all think.

Is the temp of about 91 degrees in the hide ok? It is actually hotter in the hide then rest of enclosure. Rest of it is mid 80s, i have no ChE, just the reptisun and heating pad provide heat. Pad is directly below the hide.

91 is high, especially if he is spending a lot of time in his hide. I would move the hide to somewhere that is in the mid 80s or move the lights.

I would unplug the heat mat and see what the hide temp is. Or maybe add a few inches of substrate over the mat area to lower the temp. Does your tortoise bask under the light much?

He does not bask very often on his own, unless i move him under the light. I have his water dish right below the light to help with humidity. I kind of need the heat mat on, otherwise the humidity drops below 50% very quickly....should i relocate the hide across the tank? Im scared itll be "cool amd damp" then, which i know is a bad thing. Iv What is best?

You can get a c.h.e. and put it on a zoomed thermostat. I would keep the heat pad on for humidity.red footed tortoise do not like bright lights so I would also get a 5.0 tube uvb lamp and fixture . But you can also just change the wattage of lamp down to like a 60/70 watts to drop temperature to . The c.h.e.'s are great because you can play with the temperatures .this is a c.h.e. and the thermostat . This is the easy way to keep your temperature in check.
