Hello everyone!
I have a couple Hermanny tortoises living and wintering in a large paddock. This is Croatia, Istrian peninsula.
In my opinion, these tortoises are Western, but doubts remain.
They look like Eastern, but have little weight as Western
I ask for your help!

I place some photos and waiting for comments!

They are not western or eastern. They are Dalmatian tortoises (Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis) which are much more closely related to the eastern than the western. Genetically they are so similar to the eastern that taxonomists now group them as a geographical variation of the eastern instead of a valid subspecies at all.

Thank you very much!

So in our region there are exclusively Dalmatian tortoise!
For examples torts from my neighbors:

PS: And one of my neighbor has a real eastern tort.
In the picture it is near marginata.
It has the weight 2.5 kg
