WEIRD FISH!!!!!

I recently found this strange carcass off the shore of Montauk beach. The thing that really catches my eye is the long, stringy thing hanging near its head (which is partially gone) also, it seems that its spine has been snapped back. Anyone know what this is? If you have a suggestion please leave a comment!

Anything could have caused the break...whatever the predator was that likely caught/ate it ...and that long thing looks like a long strip of skin that has dried out....just what I see...

Do you know what fish it could of been? If its even recognizable

Since you looked at the skeleton personally, it will likely be better and more accurate for you to look a bit....I on the other hand have decided I am of no help here....
