I notice some dark eyes and some with lighter iris. Is that a male/female thing or is it just the luck of the draw?

Luck of the draw. They are either born with the yellow sclera or not. It does not develop. It is quite striking! When buying my original herd, I would look for neck colors, leg scales and yellow sclera. Some had all three attributes and others not so much. The marbled shell was never a Must Have quality for me. I now have a better appreciation for the marbled look, but the amount of color is still my preference.

Beautiful photos. Lucky torts.
The yellow sclera gives a better stink eye.

And I realized the first pic of my Bolivian was actually Tallulah. His is the one where he is challenging me for daring to be in his pen.

Don't tell Martha she's deformed. She has no idea and thinks she's a beauty queen.
She's a lucky lady to end up with Allegra and Mark. She's in tort heaven now.
