How often should you take your tort to the vet? I know like you're suposed to take them (or a sample of their poop) into the vet for parasite checks. But is that the only time you should as long as your tort is healthy?

I usually do once a year. Not really necessary...but things can happen through out the course of a year since all of my tortoises live outdoors. They are exposed to a lot more than if they were just kept inside...and I don't want to take the time to learn how to do it myself at the moment. Maybe someday if I ever have time.

I also enjoy the primary vet I use. I just went yesterday and talked with him for awhile...he's a big time tortoise fan.

I have not taken mine in at all..
To check for parasites,, you dont need to take the animal, just a fresh poop sample. IF its positive and needs Meds,, then the Dr might want to see the animal before dispensing meds..
