I have a friend with a few beardies and when I went to her house the other day she had just bought some of those "coil" CFO bulbs for UV. I know that these have been implicated in some tortoise blindness and other maladies here on our forum, but I've also heard that the problem is "fixed" now.

They are brand new bulbs, so they would definitely be the newer type.

They are: Zilla, 20 watt, "Tropical 25" coil bulbs.

Does anyone have experience with these bulbs in particular?
Are coil bulbs now safe?

BTW, I told her to take them back either way and we'll build a proper sunning cage.

I don't even pay attention if they are safe or not as I'd never consider them nor recommend them as sun is best, then a MVB (and if you get them online they really aren't that expensive, especially when you consider they can last 12 months). Sorry I don't have any actual info. What a good friend you are!
